The Experience in Detail
Once a session is booked, I will arrange an informal consultation meeting with you, which will, identify your needs, allow you to get to know me and vice versa, explain the process and offer advice on how to get the best from the session. This can take place in the comfort of your own home or my home studio, whatever is the most convenient to you.
Our Signature Framed Print
The session price also includes one of your selected images as our signature framed 12″print. This is a 12″x 12″ print in a Loft wood based moulding and printed on Ultra white UV protective paper with a Duo mount. The glass size is 17″x 17″ and the overall external size will be 21″x 21″.
Casual outfits, no jodhpurs or riding gear. This is essential to get this look.
I would normal recommend to aim for 2-3 outfits. It is often easier to adapt one outfit, rather than changing in to 3 completely different outfits. I e – change the jacket for a jumper, add a hat, then change boots to loafers. Its your choice but wear something you are comfortable in.
Casual Style, Casual/Smart Style, Smart Style, Accessories
Casual – Jumpers, Jeans, Floaty Top or Plain T shirt, Dress, Country Boots
Casual/Smart – Smart Jumper, Fitted Trousers, Smart Jeans, Shirt, Tall Boots, Smart Ankle Boots
Smart – Tweed Jacket, Blouse or Shirt, Waistcoat, Fitted Trousers, Smart Tall Boots, Competition Gear
Accessories – Scarfs, Hats, Necklaces, Bracelets
The colours ideally will be kept to a fairly neutral palette, mainly country colours. Avoid bright, clashing, highly-patterned prints
(The reasoning for this is, if you can imagine being in a woodland and are wearing a bright green, yellow and pink patterned T shirt, in the resulting image, your eye will be drawn to the T shirt and not the overall image.)
An outfit change can be just simply adding an accessory such as a scarf, jacket, jewellery, hat, gloves or removing an item, so it produces a different look or it can be a clothing change if the location allows.
Hair and makeup
Keep fairly natural
Recommendation for preparing your horse
Prepare your horse so it is clean,.
Preferably with a non plaited mane, as this is a more casual look.
Ideally a black or brown clean head collar with a nice plain lead rope.
Ideally a black or brown clean bridal.
An image release is required to be signed, before the Session begins which will allow me to use any of the images in support of my photography business and to protect the images from any unauthorised use and modification.
An additional mileage charge may be required if the location is over 30 miles distance.
Useful information to help to get those great photographs.
You must try not to talk to your horse when the photographs are being taken as it can distort the look of your face.
I will be reminding you to keep smiling, relax your hands, keep reins or lead rope tidy and your shoulders back throughout the session.
When standing try to put your weight on your back leg and slightly bend the front leg.
I will constantly be looking for getting that connection, which could be getting you to move closer, looking at your horse or touching your horse.
On the Day – The Creative Shoot.
After arriving at your location and meeting with you and your horse, we will have a walk around the Yard, noting the locations and backdrops to capture those precious moments in. The session lasts between 1-2 hours and is a fun and relaxed experience.
Area 1 Stable Yard. Head collar or Bridle
The session will usually start in the Stable Yard area. We will begin by just having a wander around without your horse so I can view the location and find out if there is anywhere we cannot go and if there are any restrictions. You can also let me know a bit more about your horses temperament and how it is feeling and whether you will have any one assisting you. You can show me what clothing you have brought to wear and we can decide how best to use this during the session.
We will then begin by you leading your horse around this area so I can take the first photographs.
Area 2 Surrounding the stable block – clothing change – Head collar or Bridle
Having completed the stable yard area. We will then look to go and use the area surrounding the stable block. This is also a good time to carry out a clothing change, which may just be adapting what is already being worn. This could be adding/removing a jacket, a hat, a scarf or changing a jumper or boots.
You can also decide whether you want a change to the head collar or bridle.
Area 3 Outside the main yard – Clothing change – Head collar or Bridle
Having completed the area surrounding the stable block. We will then look to use the area outside the main yard and carry out another small clothing change. Again you can decide whether you want a change to the head collar or bridle.
This session may complete at this point or if time and circumstances allow, we could then take some photographs of you in a smart outfit with your horse or include family pets or just check, if you had any other type of picture in your mind that you would like to do.
The most important thing during the session, is that you and your horse are safe, so do not worry if your horse does not want to stand still, looks worried or will not remain where we have selected. We will just try walking the horse round in a circle to see if it settles and try again or move on to somewhere else.
After completing the session, we will have achieved a wide variety of photographs of you and your horse. It just remains for me to process these images and to then contact you to arrange a viewing of them so you can decide what you want to purchase.
Thank you for allowing me to create, beautiful, amazing images of you and your horse.
